Jackamans’ Wills and Probate department – looking to the future

Nigel Steed recently retired from the firm after working as a Consultant with us for more than ten years following Jackamans’ merger with Nigel Steed and Co in 2009.  Mr Steed is well known in Suffolk and his charming personality and professionalism will be very much missed by his Jackamans’ colleagues.  Nigel’s career began at 17 when he became an articled clerk to his father at Greene Morgan Greene.  After qualifying as a solicitor in 1971 he specialised in wills, probate and conveyancing matters.

If Mr Steed previously acted for you, other members of our Private Client team will be very happy to assist you. Here is an insight into our teams at Felixstowe and Ipswich.

At our Felixstowe office

Carol Lockett:  A Consultant Private Client Solicitor with 35 years’ experience, Carol is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is past President of The Suffolk and North Essex Law Society.  Her professional expertise is such that she has contributed to legal training material.

Ross Burkitt:  After qualifying as a solicitor in 1998, Ross spent several years working for commercial firms handling dispute resolution work.  Now specialising in private client work, Ross joined the Felixstowe team in September 2019.

At Ipswich

Zoe Southgate: Highly experienced with over 20 years in legal practice, Zoe began as a legal secretary in litigation and rapidly progressed through Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) exams to become a qualified lawyer. An Associate Member of Solicitors for the Elderly and also a Dementia Friend, Zoe joined the Private Client team in 2018.

Paige Carter: Paige joined Jackamans in January 2015 as an apprentice; Paige made rapid progress in her work, joining the private client department in 2016.  Initially at the Felixstowe office, Paige is now based at Ipswich, has her own clients, and has just completed her second year of training with CILEx.

We’re here to help with Wills, Powers of Attorney, Registrations, Deputyship Applications, dealing with estates, inheritance tax planning, Declaration of Trusts and preserving assets.  If you feel you would benefit from a free half hour consultation, please contact your nearest Jackamans office or call 01473 255591.
