Felixstowe Book Festival 21-25 June 2023

Jackamans Solicitors are delighted to co-sponsor the Felixstowe Book Festival; an action-packed long weekend with a variety of bookish events at the wonderful Harvest House, the Two Sisters Art Centre and Felixstowe Library.

Whether you like fiction or non-fiction, there will be an author and subject matter to interest you. It is always fascinating to hear how an author comes up with a book idea, and how the work eventually appears in print.

Here’s just a taster of what’s on offer this year:

International best seller writer Rachel Joyce will speak about “Maureen Fry and the Angel of the North”.  Her previous book “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” was made into a major film starring Jim Broadbent which should be out around now.

Robert Ince will speak about “Bibliomaniac”, packed with witty anecdotes and tall tales, taking the reader on a whirlwind adventure across Britain’s bookshops.

Festival patron Esther Freud will be in conversation with her sister Susie Boyt who is also a novelist discussing their recent books – “I couldn’t love you more” and “Loved and missed”.

Angela Harding will be in conversation with journalist Catherine Larner, sharing stories about life as a printmaker and how she creates beautiful illustrations of wildlife and landscapes.

Oxford Professor Ben Ansell, one of the world’s leading experts on the dilemmas facing modern democracies will talk about his book “Why politics fails: The five traps of the modern world and how to escape them”.

Peter Berry and Deb Bunt – “Slow puncture: Living well with dementia” have written two books about Peter’s experience of dementia. Peter will speak about his experiences, having been diagnosed with early onset dementia when he was fifty.

There is also a range of events for children from 16th to 18th June.
