Orwell River Cruise with Terry Waite

Earlier on in the month Felixstowe Book Festival patron Terry Waite CBE was to be found on the Orwell Lady River Cruise Ship with a captivated audience.

Terry had lectured on many cruise ships; however, this was the first time that he had lectured on the River Orwell. The event was a taster for the 2022 Felixstowe Book Festival happening on the weekend of 25/26 June.

On the outbound voyage from Ipswich to Felixstowe he held the audience of 50 passengers absolutely spell bound as he talked about his work as a Hostage Negotiator, told stories of his time as a special assistant to the Archbishop of Canterbury and revealed how he managed to endure almost five years of solitary confinement.  Afterwards Terry took audience questions and signed his books. A wonderful time was had by all.

Festival Director Meg shared her thoughts on the day:

‘We had a wonderful boat trip. Terry held the audience totally spell bound, both amused at some parts and very moved at others.’

Many thanks to Terry for a wonderful event and to Orwell Lady River Trips for hosting.
